Refrigerators & freezers: energy labels and running costs

Every fridge, freezer and wine cooler sold in the EU must be registered with its energy label. Here you can see what each model actually costs to run in your country and how it ranks against models of the same type and size.

33,684 distinct models from the EU energy label register (EPREL). Colour and market variants with identical label values are grouped on one page.

Reading the label

Since March 2021 refrigerators use the rescaled A–G label under Regulation (EU) 2019/2016. The headline figure is annual consumption in kWh, measured with the appliance running all year. The label also shows the total volume of the fridge and freezer compartments and the airborne noise in dB(A) with a noise class from A to D.

Size matters as much as the class

The energy class is relative to the appliance’s size, so a large A-class fridge-freezer can still use more electricity than a small D-class one. That is why the rankings here compare models within the same type and volume band, and every model page shows the absolute kWh and euro figures.
